the calmingly effervescent cate blanchett is one tht i always look forward to. the yellow valentino in which she won for her part in the aviator (2005), the dries van noten tailored to a pregnant blanchett (2008), the john galliano (may his brilliant fashion soul rest in peace) gown tht matched cherubic youth (1999) + the list goes on, of course.
i may be biased because am in ardour of this couture spring 2011 collection + everything else by ricardo tisci’s version of givenchy, but this is yet another amazing blanchett moment. there may hv been other much nicer pieces frm the collection, but for such an elegant lady, this is the most apt for her red carpet. the lilac is a perfect pale + the muted shock of fluoro-yellow together match her soft orchid skin tone. not just a plain gown, the japanese warrior brings structure to the collar + shoulder, + heavy embellishments seem naturally-composed frm tisci’s erratic + beautiful design.
trying to analyse “u either love it or hate it” comments frm idiots like joan rivers or perez hilton or hollywire.com is a trivial matter really. so leaving them to their shopping channel programmes + rhinestones, it does help to have fashion forwardness even on the american red carpet because the real bitches r the ones sitting on the front row at fashion week.
